Nutmeg

Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans ) tree is originally native to the Banda islands of Indonesia.
They are grown in Indonesia, Grenada, Malaysia, India & Sri Lanka.
Nutmeg is the seed of the tree whereas mace is the 'lacy” covering of the seed .Both have similar qualities. Nutmeg has a slightly sweeter taste whereas mace has a more delicate fragrance.
They have been in use extensively in Indian,Malaysian, middle eastern and Japanese cuisine They are also an important raw material in preparing incense in Japanese and Chinese & Jewish tradition.

The essential oil nutmeg is obtained by Steam distillation and it is widely used in the perfumery and pharmaceutical industry.Our nutmeg can be supplied either as whole spice or in ground(Powdered ) form.Mace is supplied in dried petals form in Glass jars.
